Contingency Fees

The two primary types of payment method for attorneys:

The contingency fee method was developed to assist clients who have a valid claim, but would normally be unable to afford the up-front costs of an attorney to represent them.  Instead, the attorney is paid a percentage of the plaintiff’s settlement or jury award.

In contingency fee cases, you do not have to pay unless your claim is successful.  This is almost always the method of payment in personal injury cases, including car accident cases.  The industry-wide standard percentage for attorneys is one-third of the settlement or jury award.
